at TAU. Students have the option to pay their program fees via a deferred payment
plan and the OSP awards partial scholarships to qualified students. Additionally,
students are encouraged to research outside scholarship sources to help fund their
studies at the School for Overseas Students.
-
How strong is the interaction between OSP students and Israeli students?
- OSP students interact daily with the OSP madrichim, Israeli students who work closely
with our students as counselors. Additionally, students have many opportunities
to socialize with Israelis on campus and in the city through on campus activities
daily life.
-
What are the benefits of the optional group flight from NYC?
- The group flight consists of an open-ended ticket, good for one year from your arrival
in Israel. An OAA staff member usually accompanies the group flight to Israel. Students
also have free ground transportation from Ben Gurion Airport to campus and are able
to travel with 3 pieces of luggage. The group flight also allows students to get
to know their fellow students before arriving in Israel.
-
Who are the professors teaching on the program?
- The OSP faculty consists of nationally and internationally renowned scholars, many
of whom are leaders in their fields. Please visit the Faculty/Staff Bio webpage
to learn more.
-
What if I'm already fluent in Hebrew?
- OSP students who are fluent in Hebrew can choose to take an Ulpan Exemption exam
to place out of the Ulpan. This exam must be taken before the student confirms their

their program.

with their home institution prior to their participation in the OSP. Please contact
our office if you require additional information on these procedures.
-
What are the requirements for admission?

also require 2 academic recommendations and an essay as part of the application.

Academic Affairs.

What security measures are taken at TAU?
- The safety of our students is our highest priority. The university provides 24 hour
campus-wide security. All of our trips are coordinated with the proper authorities.
All students are advised of safety concerns during their orientation and are required
to carry cell-phones so that our staff can be in contact with them whenever necessary.
-
Can the credits earned on the study-abroad program transfer to my home school?
- Yes. American students successfully completing the program receive credits at their
home universities. It is advisable, however, that all of your TAU courses are pre-approved
by your home institution prior to your arrival in Israel.
-
Can OSP credits transfer towards a degree at TAU?
- Study Abroad courses award TAU credits however, entering into a degree program at
TAU requires a separate application process. OSP credits may or may not count towards
degree requirements depending on the program and concentration. The first step is
to get accepted to the university and then the advisor of your specific department
will evaluate your transcript and determine your status.
-
Do I need to get a visa before arriving in Israel?
- The Office of Academic Affairs strongly suggests that all overseas students obtain
a student visa prior to arriving in Israel. However, students holding a U.S. or
Canadian passport do not need a visa. For those students who arrive in Israel without
a student visa will be given a student visa valid for up to 3 months. They may then
renew it at the Ministry of the Interior. Students who have Israeli citizenship
(if one or both parents are Israeli citizens, or if you were born in Israel), you
should obtain a multiple visa from the Israel Embassy or Consulate prior to your
departure to Israel.
