"We are very proud to be a two-generation Tel Aviv University Overseas Student Family.
I began in 1971 in what was then called the Overseas Student Unit (OSU). I learned Hebrew and went on to graduate from TAU. My wife, Michelle, and I met at a party at the dorms in 1972. On our twentieth wedding anniversary, in 1995, we took our two sons to establish their personal bond with Israel. It worked!
Our older son, Jesse, participated in the OSP and then got his TAU degree. He is continuing toward his master’s at the Technion. Steven, our younger son, also spent a year at the OSP, and is continuing college in Israel.
Tel Aviv University has been a bridge into Israeli society for my family, and I highly recommend it."

SEMESTER OR YEAR ABROAD

The OSP programs at Tel Aviv University present a unique opportunity for accomplished college students. Participants learn Hebrew and take college level courses in English for full academic credit while immersed in Israeli culture.

International students may enroll in Tel Aviv University’s semester or yearlong study abroad program either independently or through their home school. In addition, qualified high school seniors may apply to spend their first semester or year at Tel Aviv University.

The programs offer a rich variety of exciting courses in the fields of International Relations, Social Sciences, Arts, Environmental Studies, History, Religion, Business and many more. Each course awards 3 academic credits, for a total of up to 15 undergraduate-level credits per semester (21 credits with Ulpan, see below).

The School for Overseas Students partners with other departments at TAU to offer students the option of interdisciplinary curricula each semester. Recent partnerships include the Faculty of Engineering, the Faculty of the Arts and the Faculty of Law.

FRESHMAN YEAR PROGRAM

Accomplished high school graduates may choose to spend their first year of college at Tel Aviv University’s School for Overseas Students. The Freshman Year Program fulfills Tel Aviv University’s preparatory year (Mechina) requirement of successful completion of 30 credits, or more. Students who complete this program may either apply for admission to the regular departmental programs of Tel Aviv University or transfer credits to their home school.

THE LIST OF COURSES

The OSP Course List is posted on our website for the reference of all students and their departments at their home universities.

Please note that the courses offered each semester are uniquely designed to respond to students’ interests and requirements. A final updated course schedule is posted prior to the beginning of each semester.

In addition, students who are native Hebrew speakers may be able to take up to 2 classes from the university-wide course offering. This option requires advanced approval by the OSP office and would depend on classroom space. The university-wide course offering (Yedion)are available on Tel Aviv University’s main website.

ULPAN REQUIREMENT (6 Credits)

Each semester program is preceded by a mandatory Intensive Hebrew course (Ulpan), offering students at different levels of language proficiency the ability to substantially develop their Hebrew skills. The Ulpan awards students 6 academic credits upon successful completion.

Native Hebrew speakers may request to take an Ulpan-exemption test when confirming their participation, but not later.
