"I came to study for the summer, and loved it so much that I came back
in the spring. The classes were really interesting, the teachers were
great, and the madrichim were amazing. I learned so much and really
enjoyed my time at TAU, I wish I had been there in the fall and I would have stayed the whole year"

Special Programs Division

Tel Aviv University’s Special Programs Division includes a unique combination of programs that reinforce the University’s commitment to Israeli society as a whole. In addition to the School for Overseas Students, the Special Programs Division includes the following:

  • Preparatory Program for Olim
    • The Mechina program is a one-year track which provides an opportunity for new immigrants and international students to assimilate into Israeli society and prepare for their studies at Tel Aviv University.

  • Preparatory Program for Israelis
    • This track of the Mechina program prepares Israelis for admission into Tel Aviv University by providing them with the tools and level of knowledge required for admission.

  • Hebrew Studies Unit
    • The Hebrew Studies Unit offers a large variety of academic courses for new immigrant and visiting students who wish to develop their language skills in Hebrew and for Hebrew speaking students who need special courses in Academic Literacy.

  • People's University Project
    • This project is an original initiative that opens TAU’s doors to marginalized groups in Israel and invites them to take part in special introductory courses taught by TAU students. Among the project’s goals are bridging social gaps in Israel while increasing accessibility to knowledge, while nurturing a social consciousness among TAU students.

  • The Unit for Immigrant Absorption
    • In the early 1990s Tel Aviv University established the Unit for Immigrant Absorption. The aim of the Unit was to support the most outstanding scientists and doctoral students as they integrated into Israel’s research and development community. Today, it is still the only university-based unit of its kind in Israel.

  • Division of Foreign Languages
    • This Division teaches foreign languages as an academic tool for study, research and professional communication.
